Advocacy

The Center for Living & Working participates year-round in Advocacy Actions. In recent months, state budget issues are in the forefront. Also on the radar are ADA compliance for specific projects as well as new legislation and policy directions.

Annual Events

ADA Day

The ADA day celebration is the largest annual event. 2010 was the 20th Anniversary of the signing of the ADA, and many people gathered in Boston. Governor Patrick and Mayor Menino were among the attendees.

Statewide Independent Living Education Day

Consumers, staff and advocates from all 11 statewide Independent Living Centers convene at the statehouse for this annual event. After speakers such as the Mass Rehabilitation Commissioner, legislators and other advocates talk to the attendees, everyone spreads out through the statehouse to speak with their individual legislators about the importance of Independent Living.
